ThE lies we thrive On

Yuval Noah , I call him the professor of shared fiction.I first came across this statement 5 years ago . A friend told me that I am too honest and I should read something about shared fiction to be able to live right . He was 100% right .I love truths irrespective of the level of damage it does to humans . Today , it strongly dawned on me that I struggle with what elit corporates would call ‘ emotional intelligence …or intelligence of some sort .

A high percentage of my frankness . I don’t know how to lie ,how to fake a smile when I am disgusted with anything . Today as I presented my slides and explained my data informed by past decisions made by presence of some colleagues who were then present during this particular discussion, the affected colleagues denied ever making such decisions. They vehemently denied despite my having glaring evidence . I was at loss of words .Helpless and beside myself with anguish and sadness, I felt alone. I later realised that I lacked the intelligence. I should have said something else .

Yuval Noah asserts that truth has never been high on the agenda of homo sapiens . That scholars struggle with giving fiction that will unite people or truth that may cause disunity .We are often confronted by situations like telling a friend we don’t like what’s going on in their lives — which has a probability of hurting or telling them ‘ I am happy for you — shared fiction .

How much of our happiness depends on lies ?
